Art in Bloom Crochet Circle with Lisa Shackleford-Anderson

Arts In Bloom is an immersive, large-scale installation created by artist Lisa Anderson, soon to grace the historic Strohm Hall on the third floor of the Detroit Main Library, within the Music, Arts & Literature Department. This garden-themed artwork will transform the space into a vibrant, fiber-based garden, symbolizing the themes of growth, renewal, and transformation that resonate deeply with the journey of our city, our library, our communities, and ourselves as individuals.

Crafted primarily from fibers such as yarn, wood, and paper, the garden will be a vibrant, tactile experience that invites viewers to reflect on the beauty of change and renewal.

If you’re curious to learn more about this project or are interested in volunteering, I invite you to join me for a deeper exploration of how you can contribute. Your involvement will help bring this vision to life.

Feel free to bring your crochet hooks and yarn.
